DTF Masterclass: Create perfect files & process transfers professionally
You have the motif, we have the technology. Find out everything you need to know about creating the right data and professionally pressing your DTF prints.
DTF stands for Direct-To-Film, i.e. direct printing on film. This technology is a real game changer in textile printing because it allows you to achieve impressive results on almost all materials - without the hassle of weeding.
What are DTF transfers? These are ready-to-use printed films that we produce directly for you. With this innovative technology, you can finish dark, light and colourful textiles made of polyester, cotton, spandex or mixed fabrics in just a few steps.
The result is comparable to high-quality screen printing or plastisol transfers, but much quicker and more flexible for you to realise. Compared to simple toner processes, you get outstanding colour brilliance and wash resistance.
High-tech on carrier film: the DTF process
First, we print your motif in 4 colours (CMYK) on a special, transparent carrier film. This is immediately followed by a highly opaque white application. The secret of durability? A fine hot-melt adhesive that is "powdered" while still wet and fixed with heat.
The highlight: your transfers are ready for immediate use or can be stored for up to 6 months - with full elasticity and wash resistance up to 60 °C.
Is DTF printing right for you?
Absolutely - especially if you want to customise sportswear, workwear or leisurewear. The process is extremely versatile. The only hardware you need is a Heat Press.
The 4 steps to perfect finishing
-
Step 1: Pre-pressing (remove moisture!) Pre-press your textile for approx. 3-5 seconds. This removes residual moisture and smoothes the fibres for an optimum bond.
-
Step 2: Pressing (precision counts) Position the transfer and press it at 150 °C with medium pressure for 10 seconds.
-
Step 3: Removal (hot peel effect) Allow the print to "breathe" very briefly and then remove the carrier film while still warm.
-
Step 4: Re-pressing (the finish) Press the motif for a further 3-5 seconds (ideally with baking paper or a silicone mat). This ensures maximum wash resistance and a great feel.
