An example of one of our most recent furniture film applications:

We had the idea of giving a Sprinter with a fitted interior – i.e. furniture and so on – a proper visual makeover. So we used one of our self-adhesive films. These are easy to apply and stick perfectly to any type of furniture. The result looks great and holds up wonderfully!

This raises the question: What do you need to bear in mind?

  • Before applying the adhesive: Ensure the surface is clean! Clean it with a little warm water and washing-up liquid.
  • The surface should be completely dry before applying the film
  • Cuttingthe film to size: The actual size of the film should be a few centimetres larger than the surface area itself
  • Any excess film can be folded over or trimmed off with a craft knife at the end
  • The tools you use are crucial: you’ll definitely need a squeegee
  • For larger surfaces, wet application is usually the safest way to achieve a bubble-free result
  • Would you like to know how it works? Then take a look at the article on applying frosted glass film. It describes the wet application method in detail

How does dry bonding work?

Peel back the protective film (the backing of the self-adhesive film) slightly. You can now stick this section onto a piece of furniture (preferably a corner piece). You can then apply the film to the rest of the surface bit by bit. This means you can peel off the protective film from the back. Our squeegee will be a great help. It allows you to smooth out any air bubbles perfectly. Finally, trim the edges with a craft knife and you’re done!
