It’s great to have you on our team, Burak!

Supporting young talent plays a major role for us – from interns and apprentices to working students, we support the training and development of young people across all departments.
Burak has already completed an internship with us; he has now been taken on as a working student and is writing his bachelor’s thesis in Robert Schmidt’s development department. Naturally, we asked him too if he would answer a few questions for us.

Would you like to introduce yourself to us?

Sure, my name is Burak Yilmaz, I’m 23 years old and I’m from Mainburg. I’m studying mechanical engineering at OTH Regensburg and am currently in the final semester of my degree. At the moment, I’m helping with the development of various machines, learning how to draw different circuit diagrams and working on my Bachelor’s thesis on the topic of ‘Development of an automated test bench for testing thermal transfer presses’.

What do you get up to when you’re not sitting here in the office at Nepata?

Most of the time, we do things with friends, whether it’s a day out or just a walk. I enjoy playing video games on various platforms, and when the weather’s nice, I often spend time with my family in our allotment.

What has been your impression of the company so far?

My impression of the company so far has been very good. Everyone is very helpful and open.

How would your perfect working day begin?

For me, the perfect working day starts with a good night’s sleep and a cup of coffee.

Which of the clichés about your department is actually true?

It’s true that we drink a lot of coffee and work in a very structured way.

How do you cope with stress at work?

It always depends on what sort of stress I’m facing. But I hardly ever panic or anything like that. Most of the time, I write down everything that’s going through my mind and sort it into categories. That helps me work out better what I can do and how.  But if the stress persists, I simply ask my colleagues for help.

What do you consider important when working with your colleagues?

I think the most important things are honesty, trust and open communication. Everyone should be treated as equals, so that nobody feels left out.

Do you have any unusual preferences when it comes to documentaries?

No, not really. I actually like almost all documentaries.

Are you a morning person or a snooze-button presser?

I’m usually a natural early riser, but just to be on the safe side I’ve set five more alarm clocks so I don’t just carry on sleeping.

What was the last good deed you did?

I think the last good deed I did was donating blood.

Are you more of a ‘learning by doing’ sort of person, or do you prefer the theory?

I think it’s a bit of both. If the topic is simple, the theory alone is actually enough for me. But when it gets complicated, it helps to see it visually and have a go at it. That makes it much easier for me to visualise.
