How is stone-chip protection film fitted?

  1. Measure the vehicle parts to be wrapped and recreate them in a graphics programme on a PC or Mac.
  2. Clamp the stone-chip protection film into the cutting plotter and plot the design you have created.
  3. Apply the cut stone chip protection film to the vehicle. For a bubble-free application on larger surfaces, wet application using a solution of washing-up liquid and water is recommended.

What do you need to bear in mind when working with it?

The cutting pressure of the cutting plotter must be set to a medium to high level (200g or more) and a medium cutting speed should be selected. For best results, a 60° flock blade should be used.

Stone-chip protection film – the facts:

  • Extra-strong 240μ PVC protective film, transparent.
  • A strong backing of 144g/m² silicone-coated paper ensures excellent cutting performance in a cutting plotter.
  • A permanent acrylate (solvent-based) adhesive ensures long-term adhesion to a wide variety of substrates (durability and residue-free removal: 5–7 years).
  • Operating temperature: -30°C to +80°C.
  • Processing temperature: +10°C.
  • Measured shrinkage: < 2 per cent.
  • Initial adhesion after 4 hours according to measurement method FTM 9: > 13 N/inch.
  • Fully resistant to car wash cycles.
  • No yellowing.
  • Extremely impact-resistant.
  • No TÜV approval required.
  • Preliminary tests are recommended in all cases; the data given here are for guidance only and may vary depending on the surface to be bonded.
