Buttons – versatile and creative promotional items!

Buttons are easy to make yourself and are an increasingly fashionable and popular promotional item and gift

Badges are sometimes described as ‘out of fashion’ and ‘old-school’. In our experience, however, buttons are always on-trend, popular and in demand, as evidenced by our customers’ keen interest in purchasing them and the resulting frequent sell-outs. But we’ve now restocked, and our button-making machines, tools and blank buttons are once again readily available!

How can buttons be used effectively?

The possible uses and variations of buttons are constantly evolving. These days, buttons are generally used as giveaways – that is, as free promotional items – but they are also ideal for sale as souvenirs and gift items. And, of course, for bringing your own design ideas to life and sharing them.

Small and medium-sized businesses, for example, can use bottle-opener buttons to convey and publicise their logos and advertising messages very cost-effectively and sustainably. This allows for flexibility regarding the print design, whilst also keeping costs low compared to the industrial production of buttons.

In the run-up to Christmas, at open days, during Oktoberfest, for a new opening, or at major events – you can customise and amend the print design yourself at any time and determine the print run.

What buttons are there?

Firstly, there are various button shapes: round (diameter from 25 mm to 75 mm), rectangular (37 mm × 58 mm) and oval (45 mm × 69 mm).

Unprinted round badge, 75 mm: metal front and back with a safety pin on a white background
Blank rectangular badges: silver metal front and back with a safety pin, unprinted, on a white background
Two unprinted oval metal buttons measuring 45 x 69 mm: the smooth front side is shown above, and the reverse side with a safety pin is shown below

Furthermore, a range of functional backs is available for the various formats, such as a safety pin, make-up mirror, bottle opener, clip, magnet, key ring, etc.

Oval buttons, 45 x 69 mm: front featuring the ‘YOW! Na dann Prost!’ print, metal back with bottle opener and magnet
Button blank with a bottle opener on the back and a key ring on a chain, with the unprinted metal top section behind it, on a white background
Components of a round button: a silver metal front over a white plastic back with a clip; one of the functional backs
Blank for a round magnetic button: silver metal front and a back with a dark magnetic surface, presumably 37 mm in diameter

How do you make buttons?

To make buttons, all you need is a button-making machine, a die-cutting press for your paper prints, and blank buttons in the desired size and shape.

Button-making machine with a grey lever handle, a press punch and two chrome-plated dies on a black turntable for making buttons
Black multifunctional die-cutting press with a red and black lever handle and acrylic plates for precisely cutting out paper designs for buttons
The individual parts of a round button blank, stacked on top of one another: protective film, printed paper design, front shell and back with a safety pin

Once the paper templates have been precisely cut out, the components of the button (front shell, protective film and back) are pressed together in the button-making machine in just a few simple steps and in a matter of seconds. The result is a high-quality, durable button. It’s child’s play – and great fun too!
