YOW! Advent Calendar – Door No. 11

Nothing beats homemade!

As it’s not just Granny who loves homemade treats, here are lots of ideas for personalised biscuit tins – recipes included.

  1. Create the desired lettering on the computer, plot it onto coloured self-adhesive film using a cutting plotter, weed the excess material and apply transfer paper.
  2. Apply the sticker to the biscuit tin and peel off the transfer paper.
  3. Fill the tin with home-baked biscuits and gingerbread, and spread a bit of cheer to others!

Butter biscuits, approx. 100 pieces

1 egg
100g icing sugar
200g cold butter
300g flour
Seeds from one vanilla pod
Flour for the work surface

For the icing:
200g icing sugar
Juice of half a lemon, water
Sugar and chocolate sprinkles

Knead all the ingredients together by hand to form a smooth dough, cover with cling film and chill for at least half an hour. Roll out the dough on a floured work surface to a thickness of about 0.5 cm and cut out biscuits. Bake the biscuits for about 10–15 minutes at 180° (fan oven) until golden brown, then leave to cool. Brush with icing and decorate as desired.
